It’s impossible to deliver a great UA if the inherent UX design of the app is flawed. This session explains the symbiotic relationship that UX and UA share – and emphasizes the importance of useful UX in delivering engaging user assistance.

User Assistance is the element that you use to communicate with the users of your products and services and User Experience is the FEELING that the users have when they are working with your products. The bottom line is…design is an integral part of your product and possibly one of the foundation that glues the worlds of UA and UX together.

The session also covers

  • the key design principles outlined by Dieter Rams (who about 50 years ago, in his quest to answer the question “Is my design a good design?” developed the 10 timeless commandments of design) with real-life examples, their significance in modern day software design and correlation with how it can help communicate succinctly with users.
  • how to deliver proactive and optimal UA that compliments a minimalistic and usable design to ease the cognitive load on the user.

As a User Assistance professional, for you to be able to understand how the product is designed and to be able to make meaningful suggestions on where the user would need assistance – it is imperative that you have a fair understanding of User Experience design.

The goal of the workshop is not to make you a designer, but to introduce you to the basics of design principles, do away with prejudice so that it helps you understand designs better and deliver optimal UA for sustainable UX. You will leave the class with a bag of aha! moments, stories to spread, and a closer connection to design.
